Mukhyamantri Ghasiyari Kalyan Yojana Uttarakhand (उत्तराखंड मुख्यमंत्री घसियारी कल्याण योजना) 2021 – Complete Details

Livestock has been an integral avenue for a farmer’s income. The Indian government, over the last couple of years, has paid heed to the need for schemes in place to optimise farmer’s opportunities in the livestock realm. In the rural areas of the country, feeding and rearing livestock is major challenge farmers face, especially when they themselves accumulate such meagre incomes that they can barely put anything up for themselves.

The Uttarakhand government has, bearing in mind the troubles its farmers go through, has launched the Mukhyamantri Ghasiyari Kalyan scheme – a way for farmers to improve their income and not have livestock dig into their personal finances.

About the Mukhyamantri Ghasiyari Kalyan Scheme

The scheme funded by the Uttarakhand government will free nearly three and a half lakh women from the burden of foraging for the animals and will also contribute to the improvisation of the farmer’s economy.

The scheme aims to enhance farmer income by also increasing milk prices by ₹1.30 so that milk producers get a better profit margin in the long run, which also compensates for the expenses they have to incur to have to look after cattle.

The impact of the scheme is such that it has made matters better for women in Uttarakhand who do not have to climb mountaintops to forage for the cattle. The plan also aims to plant corn crops on 2,000 acres of land, to benefit farmer incomes. Maize or corn is a good diet for animals and would also save expenses on the farmers.

Salient features of the Uttarakhand Ghasiyari Kalyan Yojana

  • Under the implementation of the scheme, women no longer have to travel far and wide for things like charpatti – a diet of leaves fed to cattle.
  • Livestock farmers will have packed silage along with TMR (Total Mixed Rations) in their homes.
  • The goal is to free women from the task of having to chop fodder
  • There would also be a double benefit as animal health and milk production will improve with this nutritious diet fed to them.
  • With this, cattle will no longer be left on the streets and this would greatly contribute to the cleanliness of the state.
  •  More than 2,000 farmers’ families will be roped into the benefits of the scheme so as to collectively cooperate cultivation of corn on more than 2,000 acres of land. There will be arrangements made to provide a fair price to corn growers also.

Summing it up

With the scheme in effect, farmers in Uttarakhand now have a fair chance of increasing their income and ensuring that rearing cattle does not affect their personal finances – which is already in a precarious situation.

Farmers will now have more disposable income which they can use for the betterment of their living standards and can also invest in their future, which will end the cycle of poverty for themselves and the generations after them.

Schemes launched by the state government

The state governments of India are the next important government bodies right after the central government of the country. The state governments constitute 28 states and 8 union territories

India is a democratic and republic country wherein highest authorities and powers are proffered to the central government. For the state government, real executive powers are given to Chief Minister as he is responsible for heading the Council of Ministers. The state governments of India work toward internal security, such as police department, social welfare, public health betterment and other similar state-related issues. The state government of the country earns its employee income from sales tax services, stamp duty services, and from some parts of GST.

The state governments have launched a variety of schemes so far. Some of the examples are as follows:

In Andhra Pradesh, Chandranna Bima Yojana, National Energy Efficient Agriculture Pumps Program, and Smart Pulse Survey have been launched. In Assam, Mass Rapid Transit System has been recently launched. In Maharashtra, Police Pratisaad Ask services and various schemes for the betterment of farmers have been launched. In Karnataka, PM Santwana Harish Yojana, and Housing scheme for Transgenders have been launched. In Uttar Pradesh, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gram Jyoti Yojana, Hausla Paushan scheme, and Swadhar Greh yojana have been launched.

The state government of India monitors both rural and urban development. However, it is not feasible for the state government to monitor all rural and urban local government bodies. Thus, based on the provided funding and coverage, rural and urban local entities create development plan whenever required. These government entities work in close association with planning commission and local or regional government sectors and authorities.

Apart from these schemes, the state government also ensures the effective implementation of centrally sponsored schemes in respective states.
